i know it’s a bit of a cliché but like many of you, i’ve vowed to begin 2019 with a clean slate. over the holiday break i cleaned and tidied (how often are we hearing that word in january due to marie kondo’s new series?) and i’ve stocked my kitchen with only the freshest, and healthiest ingredients. i’ve ditched sugar, alcohol, carbs, dairy, grains and legumes (call it the whole30) and am much feeling better already. the only thing that makes this way of living more challenging is that i find i must commit to cooking more and with that comes a lot of prep — healthy eating requires a few more steps. all that chopping and juicing means a lot more kitchen clean up, too. though i love the look, my dark hardwood floors tend to show a lot of what ends up on the floor while cooking and that drives me barking mad (not to mention my dog lucy’s mess!). i have a bit of OCD in the dirt department, so i’m very happy to have recently partnered with Oreck and their new cordless Cordless Vacuum with POD Technology which is making the task of keeping the kitchen clean so much easier.

i remember maxwell gillingham-ryan saying in his book Apartment Therapy: The Eight-Step Home Cure that one of the most important investments in your home is a good vacuum, and i think that’s so true — you have to start from the ground up, so to speak. Oreck’s POD is super lightweight so getting out the vacuum is no big deal (i keep it tucked in a corner next to the fridge), in fact, it’s easy to do a clean sweep after cooking (or anytime you need a quick clean-up). and Oreck’s Cordless Vacuum features this cool, self-sealing POD Technology that captures and contains dust and dirt, and it self-seals preventing that irksome dust cloud that spreads when you’re emptying a traditional bagless vacuum, making it convenient and mess-free. Just drop a fresh POD in to start, it lasts about a month and an LED light lets you know when it’s time to change it. if you’ve joined me in eating and cooking clean this year, i think you’ll like adding Oreck’s POD to your new regimen. happy, healthy and a very clean new year!
